El comte Arnau ha estat una de les figures m\u00e9s arrelades de l\u2019imaginari
popular catal\u00e0 durant segles i encara ho continua sent en l\u2019actualitat.
El 1926, ara fa cent anys, Josep Ribot rebia el premi Llegendari
Popular Catal\u00e0 per les llegendes que havia anat recollint pel Ripoll\u00e8s.
Juntament amb l\u2019etn\u00f2graf Rossend Serra i Pag\u00e8s, feia anys que volien
fer un llibre sobre el comte Arnau. Ribot va fer estades a Montgrony
des d\u2019on va dibuixar les terres per on es movia el nostre comte.
Dibuixava l\u2019escenografia de la llegenda mentre recollia les can\u00e7ons tal
com les recitava la gent de Mataplana. Aquell mateix any Rossend
Serra publicava un assaig sobre els or\u00edgens de la llegenda. Segurament
el llibre que teniu a les mans s\u2019assembla for\u00e7a al que van voler fer, fa un
segle, Josep Ribot i Rossend Serra i ens acosta a la llegenda del comte
