Aquest documentat i penetrant estudi tracta del fenomen socioling\u00fc\u00edstic conegut per gonellisme, mot que procedeix del pseud\u00f2nim Pep Gonella adoptat per l’advocat i pol\u00edtic Josep Zaforteza en la famosa pol\u00e8mica de l’any 1972 sobre la identitat ling\u00fc\u00edstica i l’estandaritzaci\u00f3 del catal\u00e0 a Mallorca. Avui el gonellisme fa refer\u00e8ncia als sectors contraris a la unitat de la llengua catalana o a la normalitzaci\u00f3 ling\u00fc\u00edstica a les Balears.
Dividit en tres grans parts, la primera est\u00e0 dedicada als or\u00edgens, als autors i activistes m\u00e9s destacats, a les publicacions m\u00e9s rellevants i als principis ideol\u00f2gics del gonellisme.
