Joan Mart\u00ednez-Alier ha passat seixanta anys de la seva vida a Catalunya i vint a altres llocs. Ha estat professor d’economia i hist\u00f2ria econ\u00f2mica a la UAB i \u00e9s investigador de l’ICTA i codirector de l’Atlas of Environmental Justice. Aquest llibre documenta la seva traject\u00f2ria des dels estudis agraris cap a l’economia ecol\u00f2gica (anys 1970) i l’ecologia pol\u00edtica (anys 1980). Explica la fundaci\u00f3 de la Societat Internacional d’Economia Ecol\u00f2gica de la que fou president el 2006-07. Ha predicat sobre aquests temes a Barcelona i tamb\u00e9 a Oxford, Stanford, Yale, Berl\u00edn, Cuba, Per\u00fa, Equador (LA FALCSO), M\u00e8xic, Brasil, l’\u00cdndia, Xina, Jap\u00f3. El llibre t\u00e9 cap\u00edtols sobre els protagonistes de l’ecologisme llatinoameric\u00e0 i de la hist\u00f2ria socioambiental de l’\u00cdndia. Parla tamb\u00e9 del latifundisme andal\u00fas i peru\u00e0, de l’editorial Ruedo ib\u00e9rico de Par\u00eds, de l’enrabiada del 1977 per l’autoamnistia dels franquistes, de les revistes Bicicleta i Ecolog\u00eda Pol\u00edtica, de la pol\u00edtica verda, de la satyagraha gloriosa del primer d’octubre del 2017 a Catalunya.
