Pero en una ocasi\u00f3n se lo quitaron, y aunque lo busc\u00f3 por toda la Tierra Media nunca pudo encontrarlo. Al cabo de muchos a\u00f1os fue a caer casualmente en manos del hobbit Bilbo Bols\u00f3n.
Desde la Torre Oscura de Mordor, el poder de Sauron se extendi\u00f3 alrededor. Lleg\u00f3 a reunir todos los Grandes Anillos, pero continuaba buscando el Anillo \u00danico, que completar\u00eda el dominio de Mordor.
Bilbo desapareci\u00f3 durante la celebraci\u00f3n de su centesimodecimoprimer cumplea\u00f1os, y dej\u00f3 a Frodo a cargo del Anillo, y con una peligrosa misi\u00f3n por delante: atravesar la Tierra Media, internarse en las sombras del Pa\u00eds Oscuro y destruir en Anillo arroj\u00e1ndolo en las Grietas del Destino.
