Al final de l\u2019any, al voltant d\u2019una taula del petit bar Katowice, a la ciutat argentina d\u2019Ushuaia, s\u2019hi troben diversos personatges arribats d\u2019arreu del m\u00f3n. L\u2019escriptor, convertit en viatger, relata els fets que succeeixen als diferents exiliats ancorats a la fi del m\u00f3n. Un parisenc que fuig de la seva burguesa fam\u00edlia, un angl\u00e8s que s\u2019allunya d\u2019un terror familiar, un jove mexic\u00e0 estudiant de qu\u00edmica, un xil\u00e8 silenci\u00f3s i circumspecte, el propi escriptor, que sembla immers en una cerca amb motius foscos i, finalment, una polonesa, la propiet\u00e0ria del bar.
